Cymbopogon Nardus, common name Citronella Grass, is a species of perennial aromatic plant from the family Poaceae, originating in tropical Asia. It is the source of an essential oil known as Citronella oil, which is widely used for its natural insect-repelling properties.
A tall perennial grass native to Sri Lanka, growing to about 1 metre in height, and capable of living up to 15 years, due to an extensive root system. During regular cultivation, the plants normally replaced after 5 years. Harvesting will begin five to six months after the plants begin to grow, and every months after that. Normally in the early hours of the morning and finishing by noon. During the harvesting and cutting of the leaves, an approx. 15cm (from the ground) plant stock remains to regenerate for the months ahead. The leaves are then left to wither for 24hrs before the steam distillation takes place.
The leaves of Citronella are used for their aromatic and medicinal value in many cultures, for fever, intestinal parasites, digestive and menstrual problems.
It is necessary up to 100 kg of fresh Cymbopogon winterianus raw to obtain 1 kg of essential oil.

Calendula CO2 Extract (Calendula Officinalis) ☸ Essential oils ☸ Base / General
Calendula CO2 total extract is very beneficial for the skin and has a subtle, herbaceous/green, warm, waxy scent. CO2 total extraction of Calendula, while faradiol monoesters are responsible for many of the skincare benefits, there are dozens of other components that complement and enhance the overall effects, making it an ideal addition to topical preparations of all types. Calendula CO2 has a waxy texture and a deep orange color that will appear in the final product.Caledula petals extracted with CO2 gas (Carbon Dioxide), this is the purest and gentlest way of making botanical extracts without the use of either heat or solvents. This extract is very concentrated as it is a full extraction, which includes the Essential Oil as well as the fat-soluble and water-soluble substances from the plants.
This CO2 extract can be used in both water (not purely water-based products as it is oil-based and so will not mix) and oil-based products.
Calendula CO2 extracts are highly concentrated. For safety reasons, they must be diluted before use – this is standard protocol for aromatherapy and perfumery purposes. This product is solid and waxy at room temperature and must be slowly heated to become pourable. For a massage oil, we suggest combining 5% Calendula CO2 with 95% of another carrier oil.
